DIVERSIFIED PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
There are few reports about posttreatment technology of down. It is important to establish core techniques for down to develop functional down products. Down Research and Development Department was founded in 2009. Functional down products meet the needs for working, outdoor and medical care in the future. Down Research and Development Department is composed of the members who are majored in material science, biological chemistry and general chemistry. The diversity of professionals helps to develop the use of functional down products.
Customize
KL DOWN imports raw materials from all over the world. We can meet any need of customized down. The special post-treatments have been developed in response to the additional functions which can not only preserve heat but meet the customized functions required by KL DOWN Lab.
Outdoor apparels
Down is the best insulation in outdoor apparels, especially for mountain climbing. KL DOWN obtains a good balance between warmth and weight.
Medical Care
KL DOWN prevents the down from bacteria, body fluid and blood by special treatment on the surface. It is suitable for hospital and home care.
Advanced R&D Equipment

KL DOWN focuses on improving process, shortening process time, reducing the loss and increasing the fill power for a long time, so that the down is popular as filling materials. To develop the new applications for down, KL DOWN Lab was founded in 2009. Two pilot machines were imported from Germany to accelerate the manufacturing process. All of the treatments are designed on these two machines. We can satisfy our clients by applying the data to the process and customizing the down products precisely.

In addition, the examinations of the final down products should follow the market-qualifying criteria and build a SOP. The AATCC certified washing machine can wash down products without damaging the fill power. The down jacket can be washed easily, therefore the down jacket is well received by the public. Also, the functional analysis test is built to test functional down products. For example, the heated box with 45℃ could test the retardancy of the down and the infrared image could test the insulation of the down. We will continuously improve ourselves in functional tests in response to the needs.
Cooperation
As technology improves every day, KL DONW Lab cooperated with other companies and schools to develop the new techniques for manufacture or improve the original ones.
In order to be certified with bluesign®, we cooperate with some famous detergent manufacturers to develop bio-degradable detergents. Bio-degradable detergents are safe and harmless to humans and environments. In addition, KL DOWN Lab has developed new techniques of surface treatment on down with National Center University in Taiwan to expand the application of down products.
Achievement
KL DOWN Lab is established in 2009 and already acquired 9 patents in different countries and regions. Several patents have been commercialized or applied to the products. Furthermore, some pilot techniques are leaders in Taiwan. KL DOWN Lab was sponsored by Taiwan government for the project “durable water repellent and warm down product”. The ability of KL DOWN Lab in research and development has been recognized. Developing new application of down in textiles and non-textiles is the goal of KL DOWN Lab in the future.
